Solar Electrical Project Manager

Overview: As a key member of the Engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for managing full set engineering drawings, one lines, wire schedules, PVsyst analysis and conducting solar project feasibility studies and drafting designs for solar system using AutoCAD as well as other design programs. Responsibilities: Managing/creating full set Electrical drawings for Utility and Commercial-scale Solar projects. Electrical one-line diagrams, panel system designs and conducting PVsyst Analysis. Creating PV Wire schedule and creating equipment detail sheets. Gaining deep knowledge of PV system components like modules, racking, inverters and BOS. Attending client meetings to effectively explain EVS, Inc.’s Electrical Engineering competence. Having a good understanding of NEC 2017 and keeping up with emerging technologies. Conducting site feasibility studies, commissioning site visits and meeting with utilities to understand their needs. Qualifications: Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a new department with tremendous growth potential in a stable Engineering firm. In addition, the Solar Project Engineer must possess: Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an Engineer/project manager for an engineering firm, EPC or Solar Developer NABCEP Certification and Electrical Engineer-in-training (EIT)/PE highly preferred In depth experience with AutoCAD, manual drafting, and electrical line drawing Understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems Excellent organizational skills: proficient with MS Excel spreadsheets and data management An excitement for project development – a desire to create something new from plans Ability to interpret site drawings and communicate effectively about them Familiar with electrical components and electrical engineering Understanding of solar photovoltaic systems including SCADA and monitoring systems Background in Electrical/Mechanical engineering and some understanding of Medium and High Voltage AC Understanding of ampacity calculations in AmpCalc, SKM or CYMCAP will be highly valuable but not required Understanding of power studies in SKM or E-tap will be highly valuable, but it is not required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering

Power Electrical Engineer

Overview: As a member of the Engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for helping EVS support our medium and high voltage Electrical Engineering group and work as an Electrical Engineer. The candidate will report to the Power Studies Group Leader. Essential Functions and Responsibilities• Assists with project design, specifications and plans • May review work for Quality Assurance and Quality Control and ensure compliance with EVS quality standards • May participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients • Helps the power electrical team create models, analyze systems, and write reports for utility and distributed scale solar projects. • Perform Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using Etap or SKM • Perform analysis for wire in trenches using software like AmpCalc or CYMCAP • May perform Grounding studies using CDEGS or SKM Ground Mat • May perform Harmonic studies • May perform Transient studies • May help with PSSE, PSCAD, or PSLF modeling • May help with relay settings for Solar projects • May help the electrical team create full set medium voltage electrical drawings and calculations for Utility and Distributed scale solar projects • Assist in determining electrical medium voltage conductor sizing and design • May assist in creating electrical collection system and substation one-line diagrams • Continuous knowledge gain of PV system components like modules, racking, inverters, transformers, and balance of systems • Possesses a good understanding of, or has a willingness to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEEStandards and keeping up with emerging technologies • Reviewing shop drawings, responding to request for information (RFIs), and assisting with general construction support services • May participate in public involvement which may include reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material Minimum Qualifications: • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC• EIT certification or path to move towards certification is preferred• Prefer background in software such as CYMCAP, AmpCalc, SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSSE, PSCAD, or CDEGS• Prefer an understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems• Knowledge of grounding studies basic theory and methodology• Knowledge of Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodology• Excellent organizational skills: proficient with MS Excel spreadsheets and data management• Prefer some experience with AutoCAD, manual drafting, and electrical line drawing• Substation physical design experience preferred• Some experience with protection and controls desired but not required • Passionate about the renewable energy business and project development• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment• Excellent organizational and time management skills• Positive and professional attitude Position Specifications • Location: Eden Prairie, MN • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering • Certification or Licensure Requirements: EIT in Electrical Engineering • FLSA Status: Exempt/Salaried Nothing in this position description restricts leadership’s right or ability to assign or reassign duties and/or responsibilities to this job at any time.
