Design Build for Interstate 494
EVS was part of the Granite/McCrossan design build team for the $137.5 million, award winning stage 2 reconstruction of I-494 from Hwy 5 to I-394. The project started in August 2004 and was completed in September 2006. The project added two new lanes, one in each direction and increased capacity of the roadway by 50 percent in each direction. The project also reduced the risk of crossover crashes through the installation of concrete median barriers.EVS staff co-located in the Granite/McCrossan project office and performed a variety of services including geometric layouts, drainage design, ramp/turn lane design, and CAD support.
This project was awarded the 2007 National Achievement Award for utilizing an innovative and strong partnership between state government, private contractors and consultant services.
