At the end of 2017, EVS established the EVS CARES (Charity-Assistance-Relief-Empathy-Service) Foundation with the goal of being able to do more to enrich our community and give back.  The funds in the foundation are designated to be used only to support 501(c)(3) organizations.  EVS intends to support a variety of causes and focuses primarily on charities targeted at hunger relief, disaster relief, medical aid, disease cure and prevention, education and other humanitarian efforts directed at economically disadvantaged individuals. Employees are also encouraged to support their favorite charities through paid volunteering time off and a donation matching program which allows employees donations to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations to be matched by the EVS CARES Foundation.

CHARITY DONATIONS:

Boulay PiCoin Social Media Winner JPEG_cropped

Boulay has selected The Lift Garage. This local organization provides low cost auto repair services to Minnesotans with limited means who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford much needed repairs. The story behind their founder, Cathy, and how this organization was started just five years ago is inspirational. Cathy, a social worker at the time, went back to auto mechanic school at her own cost to learn how to repair vehicles. Once she obtained the knowledge she needed and graduated, she opened the Lift to help those in need.

The Lift Garage is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed to move people out of poverty and homelessness by providing low-cost car repair, free pre-purchase car inspections, and honest advice that supports our community on the road to more secure lives.

LS Black PiCoin Social Media Winner JPEG_cropped

LS Black is a proud supporter of the military and agencies that support veterans when they return home from active duty. After learning about The Mission Project, LS Black Constructors was inspired by their mission to help soldiers know that they are not alone. The Mission Project was founded in 2005 by Mary Bergerson, the disabled widow of Sgt. Douglas Bergerson, to honor his memory and military service following his suicide. We lose 23 soldiers/veterans to suicide every day. It is her vision to put an end to this by keeping others from following in his footsteps.

The Mission Project actively supports our military and its veterans through our programs /Missions and partnerships with other businesses, churches, and organizations that positively help and assist our armed forces. They are committed to mental health, advocacy, reintegration, suicide prevention, camaraderie and fellowship.

BWBR PiCoin Social Media Winner JPEG_cropped

BWBR chose the Metropolitan State University Foundation because it provides support to urban students from diverse backgrounds (particularly non-traditional adult students), helping foster lifelong learning and unlocking new opportunities. BWBR and EVS have teamed on several projects for Metro State, so we thought it would be especially fitting for a PiCoin donation.

The Foundation is increasing its focus on building a stronger donor base with increased endowments, which provide student scholarships and financial assistance needed for student success and academic program growth for the university. As a Foundation, they look forward to supporting the delivery of a quality, accessible and affordable education for all Metropolitan State University students.

Vikings PiCoin Social Media Winner JPEG 3_cropped

Since 1961, the Vikings have been part of the fabric of this community and we are proud to share the next chapter of our legacy, the Minnesota Vikings Foundation. This public charity organization will advance the well-being of youth through engaging health and education initiatives. This generation is the first in history tracking to have a shorter life expectancy than its parent generation due to physical inactivity and poor nutrition. Additionally, Minnesota has one of the largest achievement gaps in the country as evidenced through test scores and graduation rates. These are areas that the Minnesota Vikings Foundation can help create a measurable impact on our community. However, this is a daunting challenge that can’t be tackled alone.

To accomplish these goals we must enlist the help of our players, our staff, our fans, and our community. As the Minnesota Vikings Foundation continues to grow we look forward to sharing more about our fundraising events, impact programming, volunteer opportunities, and ways to share in the mission. We would be honored to have you join us as we forge ahead together!

Tough times can happen to any of us which is why Alliiance values giving back to the community and making a difference in peoples’ lives. With this donation, assistance can be brought in the form of needed resources this facility requires to assist homeless families and children every single day.

Mary’s Place offers transitional apartments for homeless families with children. This building was named after and dedicated to the Blessed Mother Mary. This beautiful complex was born out of love, compassion, and concern for women and children in poverty. Mary’s Place was built entirely with private donations and these 100 fully-furnished apartments give safety and hope to all who occupy them. All together, Mary’s Place can house more than 600 people in need at any given time. Mary’s Place has four full-time Family Advocates who work directly with families on goal planning and ensuring progress at becoming self-sufficient and obtaining housing. They also work with the children offering tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities. Mary’s Place is here to offer support for struggling families and to enable those who want to improve their lives. For this they offer money management, case management, and resources to deal with the unique issues each family is facing.

United Properties PiCoin Social Media Winner JPEG_cropped

United Properties’ Twin Cities roots run very deep. Locally owned for more than 100 years, we strive to give back to the communities where we work, live and play. We were recently introduced to Allan Law and his Minneapolis Recreation Development program, which brought our team inspiration and interest in helping his selfless mission. Gathered together as a team, we felt humbled, working together to make sandwiches that would be in the hands of so many in need later that evening. Thank you for prompting this new opportunity to serve our community!

Minneapolis Recreation Development is dedicated to serving the homeless community, vulnerable individuals, disadvantaged youth, and their families in the Twin Cities through our Three Programs. Enabled by the generous support of our donor community, from 9pm to 10am every night Founder Allan Law drives throughout the Twin Cities serving people in urgent need in homeless shelters, and on the street. Making as many as 50 stops a night, he distributes donated sandwiches, basic necessities, and encouragement to the homeless from the back of the MRD minivan. He volunteers overnight because that’s when shelters are closed, and homeless people living on the street are most vulnerable. He also responds to several calls a day 24/7 from people in crisis, with requests ranging from critical immediate needs, to others like help finding a job or temporary housing. On any given night there are an estimated 7,000 homeless people in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area, and 2,200 of them are children under 17. The goal of MRD is to feed, and provide emergency assistance to as many of them every day as possible. In 2012 MRD will serve over 100,000 people in urgent need, which is made possible by the incredible outpouring of both the time and resources of our donor community, and a handful of dedicated volunteers.
