We are EVS.

We’ve been providing Civil and Electrical Engineering, Land Surveying, and Environmental needs since 1979. We provide these services to meet the demands of a variety of projects for private corporations, governmental agencies, contractors, and developers.

Over the years, EVS has been involved in many major projects throughout the state. These projects include the 35W bridge reconstruction, the Vikings Stadium, U of M Gophers football stadium, and numerous Light Rail and highway projects.

Dick Koppy

VP of Business Development


Dick has over 40 years of experience in the industry and is VP of Business Development and Special Projects. “Connections are the biggest thing I bring to EVS, and helping to set up business strategies.” Dick is very pleased with where EVS is and what it’s doing as a company, and he likes the path of growth that EVS is on. He says that teamwork and sub consulting with other companies has been very important for EVS’s bids on projects, and is glad to see the company utilizing team building.

Dan Bowar

Civil Engineer


Dan is a Senior Project Manager with EVS and has worked on diverse range of projects at EVS from large retail developments for a military base, to renewable energy projects nationwide, and now the largest construction project in MN history, the new Vikings Stadium.  Dan is an expert Civil3D user and has helped EVS become a leader in leveraging design technology.  Dan enjoys spending time with his three daughters and is an avid skier and mountain biker.

Steve Hansen

Vice President


Steve is well-known in the U.S. solar industry and is your primary contact for all opportunities in the solar market. Steve is a veteran energy services business developer and is dedicated to working with EVS customers throughout all phases of their projects. With over 2 GW’s of solar projects in place, he is familiar with projects of all sizes; from smaller Commercial roof top solar to Distributed Generation ground mount systems to multihundreds of MegaWatts of utility-scale solar projects, Steve can provide a pathway to project success.

Dennis Kim



EVS President Dennis Kim joined EVS in 1980, then called Enviroscience, as a consultant. He became the Vice President in 1981, then the owner in 1982. He enjoys the people at EVS. “We’ve been very successful because of the great people working here…. It’s fun to work with great people; people here do a good job.” Dennis enjoys golfing, biking, cross country skiing, playing piano, and singing. Dennis is involved in the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, Minnesota Chorale, and Rotary Youth Exchange Programs.

Andy Kim

Vice President


Vice President Andy Kim started working with EVS in January of 2004. He enjoys the variety of work and the people at EVS, and is excited about the company’ growth potential. Andy enjoys golf and tennis, as well as playing ping-pong at the office.

Brian Johnson

Civil Engineer


Brian, a Civil Engineer, has been with EVS since 2009. He enjoys finding creative solutions and the opportunity to work with a diverse range of Owners and Users, Architects and Developers, in many of EVS’ markets. Brian likes spending time with his family; he and his wife have one child and another on the way. Brian volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House at the Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, and has been an active volunteer at his Church.

Michael Williams

Survey Manager


Survey Manager Michael Williams started working at EVS in 2008. He likes the variety of projects he gets to work on. Michael enjoys home brewing and being involved in events through his children’s Taekwondo.

Noah Waterhouse

Civil Engineer


Noah Waterhouse has been a Civil Engineer with EVS since 2004. He likes the good people, flexibility, and cool projects. In his off time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing sports (among them rugby). He coaches alpine skiing for the Special Olympics, Minnesota, is a member of the Westonka Jaycees, and is a Board Member of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Minnesota.

Rob Kack

Site Design Section Manager


Site Design Section Manager Rob Kack started working at EVS in October of 2000. “I enjoy the culture of the family-owned business and flexibility to balance work and life. I also appreciate how the people who work here value our clients and projects.” Rob spends a lot of time at his kids’ sporting events and practices; he has fun watching his daughter play volleyball and his son play football, and also got his kids started on golf so that they’ll have an activity they can enjoy together for many years.

Sohan Das

Director of Solar


Sohan Das is the Director of Solar at EVS. He has a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Energy from State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been working in the solar industry since August of 2009, and is passionate about renewable energy. “The leadership at EVS is committed to renewable energy.” He also appreciates the energetic people he works with, and the many good clients. In his free time, he likes to watch soccer, play cricket, golf, swim, bike, and do anything else outdoors, including running half marathons. Sometimes he volunteers to do solar installation work in low-income communities, and is also involved with Habitat for Humanity and Children International.
